Welcome to Assets.
My name is Amanda and I am addicted to beautiful second hand furniture and what I love even more than that, is getting my hands on it and making it even more beautiful!!
Wheewwph now that I got that off my chest I can really get this site going.
I am a single mother of two wonderful children who are (with no help or encouragement from me.. ya right) very active in sports and extra curricular activities. I have and continue to, however, find time to drive the streets on garbage day, dumpster dive at any time and head to the flea market and local auction sales on the weekends to find the goods.
I upcycle, repurpose and beautify second hand, pre-loved, and gently (sometimes not so gently) used furniture pieces. Finding a new piece feels like seeing a good looking guy across the street. My heart starts to beat faster as I get closer, I walk with a skip in my step, and right away many different images run through my head on how I could make it better and of course I want to touch it. teehee.
I am hoping to be able to keep this site up with blog posts on a somewhat regular basis. These posts will probably be more regular when craft sale time comes around (spring and Fall). In the last two years my furniture has mainly been showcased and sold at my good friends, Colleen and Emily's brilliant brainchild that is the Handmade Harvest Craft Show. Their mission is
To nurture the local independent craft community by providing an outlet for emerging craft artists of all ages…and to make buying handmade items easy and fun to do.
Even in Almonte.
Please check out their website listed on my 'people and pages I love and follow'.
So due to a spring show in May and a fall show in November, I am busy with new pieces, sandpaper, paint, and decoupage for most of the year but very busy in the early spring and fall.
Please look through my pictures and I hope you enjoy what I have created and appreciate how used furniture can definetly make a come back!!
Thank you
Amanda :o)
